Mary was the religion type; she made sure her relationship with Paul was strictly platonic. There are times when Paul would get offended with Mary just because she maintained her stand. It was almost two months of their relationship and within those two months, Mary never allowed Paul to touch her. She would always tell him that such relationship can survive without the touches, kisses, romance etc. In such cases, Paul gets disappointed but tries as much as possible to tolerate her discretion because he still loved her, no matter the circumstance.
On one fateful day, Mary suggested that they could go to the beach together and probably share the experience of having a swim. Paul was so glad to hear that since he needed such opportunity. They agreed on a date which was supposed to be in three days. Paul would always wish the third day was at hand. I saw it in him that he became so expectant of the third day. On the second day, he called Mary to find out if they could make it that day, but she opposed because she has much household chores to attend to. She advised Paul to hold on for the next day.
All through that night Paul couldn’t sleep. He walked from the north to south of the room, sat on the couch, stood up and washed his face repeatedly. He slept late that night and woke up early the next day. It was quite unfortunate, that when Paul visited Mary in the early hours of the morning he discovered that there was no one in the house. He decided to call Mary, and to his surprise, they were all in the hospital. Pastor John actually had an accident that morning and he was rushed to the hospital. It was obvious that Mary would like to be with his father all through that day, instead of going out for a swim with her boyfriend.
Paul went to the hospital to see with his eyes. He stayed with them for about three hours before leaving. As he moved out of the hospital his mind was filled with the thought of having a swim with Mary. He wished she could eventually make that dream come time. It was late that evening when he realized that he had waited the whole day for something that will not happen, at least not the day. He was so restless and disappointed. He wished that day was better. The next morning, he woke up calm and refreshed, went to the hospital to keep Pastor John and family company. Mary was so glad and impressed to see him. She appreciated his understanding and concern.
